I would like to welcome everyone to the community! At the moment, this is the unofficial That Medieval Thing LiveJournal Community. We are not currently affiliated with the organization, but rather I have created the community independently. Regardless, I would like to welcome all TMT members past and present as well as any who share interests in all things medieval!
Currently, membership is free for all to join. However, posting is by moderator-granted access only. I do apologize for the arrangement, but I feel that it is important. Do not worry, I will be checking the community often for new members, and hope to assign a few new moderators soon as well who will also be able to grant access. I believe we can all be adults here, so that once you are granted access, there will be no need for hand-holding; this community will not be otherwise moderated.
That said, I have but one real rule here: leave your personal grievances at the door. If you have something negative to say, ask yourself this first: is it constructive? If you have a legimate concern that you would like to raise and think that positive results may come of it, please, by all means speak up. But if your only desire is to slander others, then you are not welcome here.
With that out of the way, the purpose for this community is two-fold. I would like to have someone [perhaps not myself, as I am off campus and do not always hear about things in time] to post TMT and TMT-related events and meetings. I also would like to see discussion about medieval life, culture, food, thinking, recreation, sports, history and combat. In other words, if it took place in the part of the world and during the time we like to think of as "medieval," I'd like to hear about it here.
